A ZK: (pronounced ‘zik’) is a single number that marks a spot on Earth to within 1.60 m. Short enough to text, say out loud, or print on a sign, with no app needed to read one.
Weight, price, area: every quantity we use every day is a single number. A location is two numbers at once. That mismatch is why we still fumble with coordinates, long links, and ambiguous addresses. Zonkod fixes it.
The idea: Now you can measure a location as easily as a weight, a price, or an area.
No coordinates, no long links, no app required to receive one. A ZK: marks a spot on Earth to within 1.60 m, short enough to text, read over the phone, or print on a sign.
1.60 m (5.25 ft) is the practical limit of civilian GPS. Enough for delivery, meeting, rescue. More precision would make the number longer and harder to read, and it only matters to trained specialists.
Brackets and dashes mirror a phone number. If you move a little, it changes a little. No language barrier: numbers are universal.
Integer arithmetic only. Stores a location in 48 bits. Runs on an 8-bit Arduino. Made for the Internet of Things.
Paste coordinates, a Plus Code, an MGRS string, and the app converts it to a ZK: automatically.

Send a precise drop-off point, drive to a place, locate an asset. No ‘near the big tree.’ Most of the world has no address at all. A ZK: works everywhere.

Tell people where you are, where to meet, where the party is: one number, any channel, any language. Geocaching, sharing a bike or a camp spot.

Trekking, camping, sailing, diving, RVing: pin a spot that works even with no signal or Internet.

A short, sayable number for rescuers and first responders: defibrillators, forest fires, calling the police. Works offline, dead simple to send.
The problem: It's not the location. It's sharing it.
